Today was the start of the group's hike of the Inca Trail, a challenging route crossing several passes that follows one o the original Inca routes to Machu Picchu.
During the hike the group will be accompanied by Eric as well as 3 local guides. They will also be supported by a contingent of 4 cooks & 34 porters!

Preparing the day packs that the group will carry themselves, surrounded by the Andes.
Ready to go.
It was a beautiful & bright day so sun block was definitely called for...
Meanwhile the cooks, complete with hats, were busy preparing the first lunch.

NB: There obviously will be not internet access whilst the group are on their hike.
So I will include a few words each day describing the particular hike they will be tackling, & at the end of their hike photos from the 4 days will be added.
In the meantime the daily updates will primarily focus on the second group of travelers, arriving into Cusco on Monday morning.
